About

Tennessee six-stringer American Legion has dedicated his life to the mastery of a constellation of instruments—guitar, pedal steel, lap steel, Dobro, mandolin, banjo. His music, warm and exploratory in nature, represents a beautiful cohabitation of solo classical guitar with country, folk, and other strains of American roots music, as he seeks to find coherence in a broad diversity of styles while “finding the deeper parts of each instrument.” American Legion paints with all the colors of Nashville, crafting engaging and timeless tunes that say a lot without needing any words. Using an uncharacteristically wide range of textures and building on an off-the-beaten-path classical music background, he uses each careful brushstroke of strings and chords to deepen the emotional landscapes of compositions that quietly savor their own instability—weighing change as a route to renewal and shifting concepts of home. His gorgeously autumnal, leaf-thin, earthy compositions sit within disquieting rural vibrations and translate into a rare escape to a safe outpost for reflection on a vast plane of uncertainty, where recollections are richly bittersweet.
