About
Growing up in Pasadena, California, Katori Walker seamlessly intertwines his West Coast roots with his musical journey, a fusion reflected in both his upbringing and creative expression. Immersed in music from a tender age, Katori, alongside his brothers in the group "OG3," embarked on his lyrical odyssey at just nine, nurtured by their musically inclined parents. Guided by his father, a DJ and producer, Katori was exposed to the sounds of iconic West Coast figures like 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre, as well as a diverse array of artists frequenting their fathers home studio. This enriching environment not only honed his talents but also sculpted his musical identity, propelling him towards a career path focused on narrating his distinctive tales. Katori's journey took a poignant turn in 2017 with the devastating loss of his younger brother Ormoni and the impending arrival of fatherhood, reshaping his artistic trajectory. These profound experiences became the bedrock of his artistry, guiding him towards themes of intricate storytelling, nuanced wordplay, and socially resonant issues. His debut EP, "Ignorance," featuring the heartfelt track “Ormoni,” resonated deeply within the hip-hop community, propelling him into the limelight and eventually leading to sign with Capitol Records. Following the release of his EP "Stubborn," Katori transitioned to a partnership with Epidemic Sound, granting him greater creative autonomy. This collaboration facilitated the release of over 50 records in a single calendar year, culminating in his recently released debut album "Mezzanine." Through his music, Katori Walker endeavors to carve his legacy as a leading figure in California hip-hop, driven by authenticity and unwavering innovation.
