About

“So much of being an artist is just exploring,” softboy. says. The Bronx producer, songwriter, and singer is embracing her musical growth and cultivating a singularly eclectic sound—spanning alternative R&B, punk, hip hop, and jazz—in real time. Urged by friends and collaborators to nurture her talent, softboy. enrolled at The New School to study jazz composition and theory. But her curiosity and instinct for discovery runs much deeper than formal education. Her music-making process is guided by her impulse to step outside of her comfort zone and find ways to express the waves we unconsciously find ourselves riding, to occupy the nooks and crannies of the psychedelic boundaries we are afraid to touch, and to highlight the beauty that can only be found when we color outside the lines. "i’ve become accustomed to being the deficient representation in a majority of creative spaces,” softboy. says. “it is important i extend my voice for those who cannot. music serves as a universal means of communication and our earth encompasses womxn, children and nonbinary genders of all ages, races, classes, creed. it is my duty to exercise my ability, and to express myself through contemporary music and jazz."
