From a luminous new generation of composers, Trevor Kowalski embraces a dreamlike, colorful approach inspired by video game melody, vibrant classical, and a deep love of nature. Trevor is Northwest EMMY-nominated and has written music for numerous awarded productions, his most recent to appear at Sundance Film Festival 2025. Eclectic artists like Thelonious Monk, John Denver, and the melodic sense of Nintendo inspire his music. Major influences include Camille Saint-Saëns, Jennifer Higdon, and John Barry. Distinctly shaped by the Adirondack Mountains and enthralled with music from a young age, Trevor started playing piano at 6 and writing fragments of melodies. Growing up, he played piano on the street and in bars between jobs He studied at Boston University with the influential Ketty Nez, where he was the first freshman to win the orchestra's composition contest, and at the Royal College of Music in London where he performed under conductor Bernard Haitink. Trevor gained experience at composer Hans Zimmer's studio. He has independently produced and recorded American Native and traditional artists to share their stories in co-soundtracks displayed in the Anchorage and Autry Museums, and his music has been heard at the Teatro Colón Opera House in Buenos Aires and across festivals in the US. Trevor is a french horn player and conductor in addition to pianist.
