Juanita

About

Juanita is the name of a century-old cabin on the western-most front of the Colorado rockies where I composed this piece. Over the years, I've watched it sink slowly into a beautiful, nostalgic decay as rust, wear, and the elements add to the charm of the place. The gentle, melancholy melodies that weave within the serene chords changes in this composition serve to express how age and nostalgia serve to enhance the character of a place or a thing. As the song reaches the natural apex, the motif becomes both more dreamlike, begging memory to return to its simple inception while allowing for change to work its sure, slow, glorying magic.
